I’m about to share something with you that will completely change those feelings! But first, I want to let you know that you are not alone in the multitude of feelings you’re feeling! We are ALL feeling a mixture of high’s and low’s that seem to flip flop all throughout the day.
This week on the podcast and blog, I am sharing my top 3 ways to GAIN CONFIDENCE, FIND JOY, and FEEL AT EASE when uncertainty rocks your boat (aka…your world!). I say as it rocks your boat because it feels that way, that we are all sitting in a boat that keeps getting caught in a storm, and we get tossed to the left and then to the right.
When we go through the storms of life, we are often left feeling like a weakened version of ourselves, right?! We look back and say, “What happened!” or we say “How did I get here?” Chances are because you’re feeling the heavyweights of the uncertainty, FEAR is showing up more and more in your life. You feel less confident when you’re speaking to others or making decisions because it’s coming from a place of insecurity or lack. Someone asks how have you been and you smile and say, “Oh I’m doing fine” but underneath the smile, there are actually 30 things you wanted to share about ALL of the things you’re going through!
This is the bubble that FEAR puts us in. It changes our view, the way we see the world, the way we see our situations and it leads us down a path that slowly steals our joy, happiness, and leaves us feeling hopeless.
Over the next few episodes and blog posts, I am going to be speaking a lot about the way FEAR is showing up in everyone’s lives right now, primarily due to COVID-19, we are ALL living in uncertain times. BUT, in order for us to not let our FEAR TALK, we need to let FAITH LEAD!
As we look back at the past few months since the pandemic started, so this takes us back to March 2020, SO much has changed. And if we are being completely honest, by human design, we literally can’t handle ALL that change ALL at once. Anytime we make future decisions that involve change, the good rule of thumb to follow by is to make one change at a time. Even if this change is a good thing, like you’re moving into a new home or you’re getting married or starting a new job, there is still STRESS and FEAR and UNCERTAINTY attached to it. Because no one was able to plan for COVID back in March, and because COVID happened to us, more than we realize, we are ALL feeling the IMPACT that this sudden change has had on us.
So here are the 3 ways I am going to help you gain life back!
- Remember that life has always been full of uncertainty but God is and has always been in control. We have been so accustomed to the hurry up and wait for mentality or the busy beaver lifestyle that we have placed certainty in our routines, jobs, and lifestyle. The fact that overnight, everything has changed for everyone, we get an amazing opportunity to look at 1. how are we living; 2. Who are we living for; 3. How can we live better? Instead of placing trust and hope in each day’s activities, start to place it ALL in the palms of God’s hands and develop a deeper trust with what HE is doing in your life.
- With knowledge and wisdom, you gain confidence. This simply means when we try to fix, change, or improve things on our own view of the situation at hand, we will always come up short and feel like we’re left with more stress, uncertainty, and a hopeless or dead-end situation. When you take time to view your situation, emotions you’re feeling, etc., instantly you gain peace and clarity.
- Remember that time is expensive and consider if you’re using it wisely. Whether we realize it or not, God has given us a beautiful opportunity to take this time to recreate ourselves. This means, to make decisions on things you’ve put off, or to finally say yes to choosing a new career path or endeavor, investing in YOU–in your total health from the physical aspect to emotionally and spiritual, and learning how to let FEAR take a backseat instead of always being the reason we can’t seem to go after those things we dream of. This is a time for you to DREAM big, make a plan to BE a new YOU!
You were never meant to carry your loads ALONE! God’s Word promises us this in so many verses and it’s referenced in so many stories. So, know this, we are ALL always learning and figuring things out. You have the GIFT of TODAY! So I encourage you to face it with EXCITEMENT and be purposeful.
