So how do you shop for the right kale and what in the world do I do with it when I get home?
Follow these simples tips and youll be on your way to meeting this super dude:
Look for deep color, firm leaves.
Kale actually comes in all shapes and sizes, but it always found together at your local grocer. There are a few types of kale where you will see leaves that vary between light green, light and dark green, to dark green and purple/red color. My personal favorite kale is Dinosaur kale, which is a mixture of dark green to violet color leaves.
If you have a Trader Joe’s grocery store near you, they have a bag that has chopped kale already prepared and ready for steaming or cooking.
You can eat kale several ways from raw, sautéed, to baked as chips. That’s why Chip is so famous! You can enjoy it more on the salty side like in salads, or sweeten it up as a staple in your smoothie.
Fun Facts:
If you freeze kale, it tends to taste sweeter and be more flavorful. If kale tastes too strong or too bitter, try adding some fresh squeezed lemon juice to tone it down.
Try to incorporate kale at least 2-3 times a week, then slowly incorporate more often to reach 2-3 times a day!
