What do YOU want your life to look like in the next 90 days?/
Listen to this week’s episode and learn 3 ways to help you build and set a stronger foundation for you to build up your mental toughness, grit, resilience, confidence, and develop a PREP PLAN so that no matter what hardships you face, you know that you have a plan.
In 90 days from now..
We will be nearing the end of September 2020. Wow! I say WOW or WHOA for two reasons…1. We’ll have transitioned into another season weather speaking as we will be entering fall here in the United States and 2. We’ll be closer to the end of 2020.
Now, we are ALL looking at the past 6 months of 2020 and many of us would like a refund! Right?! If we could only Rewind the clock and let’s start all over.
Since we can’t do that (!), what we CAN do IS work towards our future, towards the way we will prepare for the remainder of 2020.
In this case, how lovely would it be if God would grant us a crystal ball so we can know what is coming!
Now, to address the elephant in the room, we are all aware that the global pandemic has yet to disappear and allow our lives to return to what we once knew that was comfortable, that was fun, that was normal. And even though things are starting to open up in most states, if you look closely, you’ll see that unfortunately, some places were not able to open up. Not only that, but the stores, restaurants that have reopened have not returned to normal. There are fewer employees working and longer lines. Requirements to wear face masks that leave you feeling a bit odd when trying to communicate with others through the “Muffly” sounds! We are hearing more and more about the predictions that a second wave or a second quarantine is coming up on the horizon.
As much as COVID-19 came sweeping in from left field with a violent storm, that left us with shattered pieces, abruptly and instantly, it’s important for you to NOW take what you have just experienced and make a PREP PLAN so that YOU can stay mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually healthy.
This is where I come in 🙂
Earlier I mentioned how lovely it would be if we had an idea of what the next few months might look like. The truth is that this is where the level of our faith comes in. I’m not talking about fluffy positive thoughts as believing that constitutes as faith, which is the way the world does it. I’m talking about really, truly deepening your FAITH in GOD that already knows your future and the GOOD plans that He has for you. The missing link though is going from just believing in this to actually knowing how to have FAITH in God.
I want to help you build and set a stronger foundation for you to build up your mental toughness, grit, resilience, confidence, and develop a PREP PLAN so that no matter what hardships you face, you know that you have a plan. However, this is something that you cannot do alone. Here are two Scripture verses to set your heart to as you start to let God’s wisdom, not your wisdom, LEAD YOU. There is purpose in what you have personally experienced so take time to really SEE the good mixed in with the bad 🙂
Proverbs 16:3 New Living Translation (NLT), “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” and James 4:3, “And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”
Your action steps:
- Take a sheet of paper and draw two lines to make three columns.
On the right column, write out all of the negative things, events, situations that you’re feeling at the present moment.
In the center column, write out the positive things, events, situations and include how you’re feeling. Example: I am grateful that I have been able to spend more time at HOME, with my children,
In the third column, start to mix items that you listed in columns 1 & 2 and create a CHANGE PLAN. This means, you’re going to take the hardships you faced/or are still facing coupled with the moments you are experiencing that bring you joy, peace, contentment (family, home, time, etc.), and your change plan will equal what you’re going to do about
2. Start to map out the next 90 days and considering the following:
How can I make the most of time? What were some of the things that were the most frustrating during the beginning of the pandemic (ie., lack of toilet paper! Or lines in the grocery store just to get in to see shelves were low in stock)? What things have you taken for granted (i.e., precious time with creating moments and memories with family and friends; using your time off effectively)? What did you miss the most when you couldn’t have it (i.e., simple pleasures, time with friends/family, activities, etc.)?
Once you have these items listed out, you can make an ADVANCED PLAN to be sure that you have these areas covered over the next 90 days.
3. Now, the good stuff. Where do YOU want to be in the next 90 days?
When it comes to your health? Most of us had to learn how to “rebalance” our eating habits, aka grazing and snacking habits where it felt like we spent more time in the fridge than getting work down! Do you need a reboot when it comes to getting your health back on track?
Job/Career? With the change in routine or even if you now work from home or perhaps you were laid off, are you considering changing career paths?
Your faith walk? Even though we have all experienced changes in our external circumstances, what is happening for you internally? Do you feel like you have more faith than ever before, or do you know this is an area that you’d like to explore deeper in finding peace, contentment, and comfort and learning how to trust God more?
My hope today is that these simple exercises bring you PEACE and by taking action in completing them, you need to give yourself a pat on the back! Because when you take action steps, even if they seem small, everything and anything you do has a greater impact, counts, and makes a difference. Often we feel like it doesn’t matter if all we can do is something small, like that phrase, “Go big or go home!” but I want you to reframe your view in knowing and believing that even the small steps add up to big steps and you’re going to get there.
Stay tuned for the next session where we will be digging even deeper into mapping out your next 90 days!
Until then, keep putting in the work and stay dedicated to your goals.
